59th Annual June Art Show / Wassenberg Art Center / 1 - 5 PM

An adjudicated regional/national art exhibition.  This competition features art from primarily regional professional and amateur  artists with most works being available for purchase. 37th Annual Old Fashioned Farmers Days / Van Wert County Fairgrounds / 9 AM - 9:30 PM

The 36th annual Old Fashioned Farmers' Show will feature antique tractors & machinery, threshing, gas engines, a sawmill, kids and adult pedal tractor pull, a car show, mule & donkey show, antique car racing, antique tractor pull, corn shredding, a trading post, a quilt show, crafts, a flea market, food vendors, animal land, steamed sweet corn, the Western Ohio Garden Tractor Pullers, a garden tractor display, country / polka / gospel / and /50s & 60s music, and more. Delphos Kiwanis July 4th Celebration / Stadium Park - Delphos / 5 PM

                               Artist - Lima Symphony Pops Orchestra

Celebrate America with the Pop sounds of the Lima Symphony.  Van Wert is one of the few communities in America that can celebrate our Independence Day with an actual Pops Orchestra.  Maestro Crafton Beck will lead the orchestra in all your favorites in this huge celebration of our nation’s birthday.  This concert has become a tradition that is hugely popular in Van Wert and throughout the region. 18th Annual Firecracker Century Bike Tour/ Jubilee Park / 7:30 AM

A scenic ride through Van Wert County awaits participants in this year's bike tour. Experience the rich farmland of rolling hills and flat land that once was part of Lake Erie and the Great Black Swamp. Routes of approximately 18, 32, and 62 miles (metric century) have been mapped out with a departure from Jubilee Park at 7:30 AM. Delphos Kiwanis July 4th Celebration / Stadium Park - Delphos / 8 AM

The Delphos Kiwanis Club invites area families to Stadium Park at 1000 Park Avenue to continue the Independence Day celebration.  In addition to food, rides and entertainment there will be a fishing derby and a softball tournament and the day will conclude with a fireworks display at 10 PM. For more information, visit www.delphoskiwanis.com

Holiday at Home / Various Locations/ 11 AM - 11 PM

Spend this Fourth of July holiday at home?   This year’s Holiday at Home festival has events and activities for the whole family. The day begins with a pancake breakfast at the VFW Post 5803 from 7 – 11 AM.  The post is located at 111N. Shannon Street. The 21st annual Firecracker Bike Tour, sponsored by the Van Wert Historical Society, will have departures between 7:30 and 10 AM.    The departure and finishing point is Jubilee Park, with routes of 18-, 32-, and 64- miles offered. Those riders taking the long route are advised to leave by 8:30 a.m.  Cost of the bike tour is $20 per individual or $35 for a family of four.  The annual Holiday at Home Parade down Main Street will step off at 11 AM.  Come downtown and join this great display of patriotic pride. The remainder of the events of the day sponsored by the Historical Society will be held on the museum grounds. Parking will be available on Third and Second streets, and Market and Jefferson streets, as well as in the lot between the caboose and the Welcome Center. The festivities at the museum will begin at 11:15 a.m. with a flag raising ceremony conducted by Van Wert American Legion Post 178.  There will be more than 12 area crafters displaying their talents and offering handmade items for sale on the museum grounds, while Van Wert Rotary Club will supply the food from a tent on Third Street. Sycamore Ice Cream will also be available. Entertainment will be provided by the Van Wert Concert Band between 12:30 and 1:20 p.m. All of the museum’s buildings will be open from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Check out the thousands of artifacts from Van Wert County that are on display. . The  Van Wert Firefighters will be serving barbequed chicken at Smiley Park at 4 PM.  The day will end with a great fireworks display launched from the Van Wert High School at dusk.  For more information visit www.vanwert.com/museum or call 419.771.9851

                                                                  Juggernaut Jug                                                                What do you get when you blend jazz, blues ragtime, swing and original music with washboards, washtubs, kazoos, jugs and various other sundry hardware? Nothing less than the strange concoction called the JUGGERNAUT JUG BAND. While members of the band are accomplished musicians, “They don’t let virtuosity get in the way of having fun.” (Washington Post) Each performance is a challenge to the audience to have as much fun as the band.  Food concessions will be available beginning at 5:30 pm.  Stadium Park is located at 1101 N. 47th Annual Ohio City Lambert Days / Ohio City, OH / 9 AM - Dusk

The second of the Van Wert County village celebrations begins today in Ohio City. In 1891, John Lambert built the first gasoline-powered friction driven automobile in the United States.  While he may not get the national recognition he deserves, his hometown celebrates his contribution each summer with this festival.  Today's activities include a steak dinner at 4 pm followed by kids games, a WiffleBall home run derby, a singles horseshoe tournament and Monte Carlo night with Texas Hold-Em.  At dusk there will be an outdoor kids movie.                                                                    Hard Days Night                                                            Since 1996, Hard Day's Night has been entertaining Beatles fans across the country. Hard Day's Night is rated among the top national Beatles tribute groups performing today.  The band focuses on performing songs exactly as the Beatles themselves did; four musicians onstage in character as John, Paul, George, and Ringo; wearing perfect stitch-for-stitch replications of the suits made famous by the Beatles; with authentic Vox, Hofner, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and Ludwig instruments; playing the world-famous songs note-for-note.
