Van Wert is located in the northwestern corner of Ohio.  The city is serviced by several major highways including U. S. 30, U. S. 127, and U. S. 224.  State routes 118, 116, 49, 81, 637, 709, and 697also provide excellent pathways to the county.

The county is also served by the Van Wert County Regional Airport.  Major faciities at the airport include a 4,000 foot long runway (Runway 09/27) with a partial parallel taxiway and a seconday 2,610-foot long runway (Runway 18/36).  Other facilities include non-precision approaches, aircraft storage, and fuel (Jat-A and AvGas).  Van Wert County Regional Airport supports mid0sized business jets and turboprops, as well as recreational general aviation.
