Annual Members' Show and Sale / Wassenberg Art Center / 1 - 5 PM

Part of the Wassenberg Art Center's mission to to encourage and support area artists.  A large number of Wassenberg members are skilled artists, photographers, potters, jewelers, woodcarvers, and glass makers.  This exhibit spotlights their work and gives the public an opportunity to support local artists by purchasing their work.  The event includes a juried exhibit and a sales gallery, with many pieces for sale in both areas.   For more information call the Wassenberg Art Center at 419-238-6837 or visit their web site at www.vanwert.com/wassenberg

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever / Marsh Foundation Auditorium / 7:30 PM

Off-Stage Productions presents "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". It tells the story of six delinquent children surnamed Herdman. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, the Herdmans are given roles in the Sunday school's Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a nonconventional fashion. Holiday Lights at the Fair / Van Wert County Fairgrounds / 6 - 9 PM

The Van Wert County 4-H Interstate Exchange group is hosting its third holiday spectacular for Van Wert County and the surrounding area. The “Holiday Light Show at the Fair” is a drive-through light show every weekend. Exhibits are themed around the holidays and are supplied by local businesses, churches and clubs. The Holiday Light Show at the Fair can be accessed off Fox Road at the Gate 5 entrance to the fairgrounds. Cost is only $5 per car or $25 per bus, and each vehicle will receive a program about the displays. For more information, call the Ohio State University Extension Office at 419.238.1214

A Christmas Carol / Niswonger Performing Arts Center / 7:30 PM

When Charles Dickens wrote his “ghostly little tale” in 1843, he couldn’t know that A Christmas Carol was destined to become one of the most beloved holiday traditions of all time. By telling this fable illustrating the unfairness of the Industrial Revolution and the necessity for brotherhood and unselfishness, Dickens gave the world one of its most endearing Christmas stories. The Nebraska Theatre Caravan has been touring Charles Jones’ delightful adaptation of A Christmas Carol since 1979. The Caravan’s Carol, which weaves traditional Christmas carols throughout the narrative, is probably the most widely produced production of Dickens’ in the nation, annually performing for more than 100,000 people in more than 60 cities across the country. His compositions are balletic, his live stage performance beguiling and befuddling, as one wonders, 'How is all that sound coming from one man?''Armed with only an acoustic guitar, Pittsburgh native Jeff Miller, now based in Nashville, uses looping pedals to create rhythm tracks, backing vocals, extra guitar parts -- all live, all on the fly. Fortunately, Miller's not just some gear head, but a talented songwriter with a strong, clear voice. He is a total master of the loop/sampling pedal.
