Tom Rigney & Flambeau Concert / Fountain Park / 7 PM
We conclude our summer by "cooking" up a big old pot of gumbo on the Louisiana bayou with the sounds of Flambeau. Tom Rigney, the fiery, electrifying violinist/composer has joined forces with some of the finest musicians on the San Francisco roots music scene to form this band that generates enough heat and energy to ignite a dance floor and lift an audience to its feet. Specializing in blazing Cajun and zydeco two-steps, low-down blues, funky New Orleans grooves and spectacular solos, it will be a fitting close to another "hot" summer of music in Fountain Park. This free concert is sponsored by the Van Wert County Foundation. Fountain Park provides a beautiful setting for outside summer concerts, surrounded by trees, park benches, and of course, a fountain. Alan Rhody Concert / Perks Cafe / 8 PM
Visionary Promotions presents another of their monthly concert series at Perks Cafe when Alan Rhody comes to town. Alan Rhody is one of today's more effective and respected solo acoustic artists in that great expanse known as the singer-songwriter. "Boxcars Of Memories", the latest of his eight album releases, showcases his "pull you in" story telling, his uncommon honesty and poetic tenderness, as well as his deepseeded kick-out-the-jams side. His emotive guitar playing and wise and rugged vocals also demonstrate why this collection is destined to further validate his already solid reputation. Whether singing the disc's six new originals (including a co-write with Tom Russell) or the four covers by Paul Siebel, Bob Dylan, Freddie Pompeii and Kris Kristofferson, his singing, playing and message all shine. All of the shows at Perks Cafe are donation only events. If you enjoyed the show please donate to the artist. Coffee and soft drinks can be purchased at the event or you can bring your own refreshments. For more information visit www.visionarypromotions.org or contact Main Street Van Wert, Inc. at 419-238-6619.
